Tyrell Johnson, a 16-year-old track and field athlete from Dallas, has always had a passion for running. Specializing in the 400-meter dash, Tyrell has been a standout competitor throughout his high school career. As a sophomore, he broke the school record in the 400-meter with a time of 48.75 seconds, and he’s looking to further improve his performance as he prepares for state championships this year.
Tyrell’s athletic journey began when he was just 8 years old, joining a local track club. His natural speed and competitiveness quickly shone through, and by high school, he was a key member of his school’s varsity track team. “Track has always been my favorite sport. I love the rush of competition and the feeling of achieving something you’ve worked so hard for,” Tyrell shares.
Off the track, Tyrell excels academically, with a 3.8 GPA, and has aspirations of attending a Division I school. He’s considering majoring in sports medicine or biomechanics, hoping to combine his love for athletics with a future career that helps other athletes achieve their best.
